What The Owner Says
'A good friend of mine owned 3 Arthur Street before us. I’d go round and just love being there. It was a lovely street and the house had a really nice feel… all the little bits, high ceilings, coving, little extension on the back, decking, skylight on the landing… together they made the house homely, warm, comfortable, relaxing, friendly. I told him then, in 2004 or 2005, that if he was ever selling I’d buy it. We were living in Beijing when he got in touch, it might have been when he was visiting, but we jumped at the chance and immediately bought the house. In 2011 we moved back to the UK and expected the house to be our long-term home. By the middle of 2012 we had renovated the whole place. We loved it. The front room for cosy evening TV or having friends round, the spacious back room for open plan living and table football. Prestwich was great. I enjoyed cycling in to work in Manchester and Prestwich’s easy access to everything, but it was not to be. To the consternation of family, work pulled me back to Asia, and we only returned to the UK last year. Recently I’ve spent quite a lot of time in the house… I continue to love it, but we’re now settled in Cheshire, closer to family, and in the middle of renovating a new ‘forever’ home. Arthur Street, our neighbours and the house have stayed the same. I continue to love the house’s calm, light, friendly vibe… and there is still loads of potential both to renovate the basement and the loft; both areas I’d have worked on if we’d moved back in. (I’d also have installed underfloor heating in the bathroom
